Shooting in Connecticut

Published December 15, 2012 by naughtyviews

My heart goes out to anyone who was affected by the shootings in Connecticut. It’s crazy how people are, the lengths they go to, the lack of fear and the general disrespect of others. To kill anyone is a disgusting act, but to kill children. You have to be pretty disturbed and cold in order to do something like that. I was shocked to watch it on the news yesterday morning but the more the story is uncovered, the more heartbreaking it becomes. Apparently, from what I understand, Adam Lanza is the named suspect, shot his mother yesterday morning. However, no one knows the motive behind this. After killing his mum, he drove to the school and carried out a mass shooting which killed 20 children, 7 adults and himself. Some reports say he was let into the school and others say he forced his way there. Either way, he had to right to be there and definitely didn’t have a right to kill anyone.

One thing I will never understand about mass shootings is why the gunman/gunwoman will shoot innocent people and then turn the gun on themselves. If you want to end your own life, that’s fine. Go ahead and do it. Don’t kill others in the process. In this case, there’s children who will never see their parents again, there’s parents who will never see their children grow up, there’s presents waiting for the children to open but they won’t get the chance. It’s really upsetting, it’s cold, it’s disgusting but more importantly it’s REALITY. That’s the worse thing about it.

According to reports, the shooting went on for about 2 minutes. It doesn’t seem like a long time but there was so much panic, fear, worry, stress, heartache caused in that time. Pretty terrible, right? “The children were escorted hand-in-hand and were told the shut their eyes as they passed the principal’s office, believed to be the scene of much of the carnage.” That was really hard for me to read in the newspaper. It literally broke my heart reading it. The children in the school were 5-10 years old. They didn’t have a clue what was happening. Events like that could scar a child, emotionally and mentally. I can only imagine how they felt.

I heard Barack Obama’s speech which was very touching. You could hear the sincerity and emotion behind his speech. It was really moving when he said “our hearts are broken today, for the parents, grandparents, sisters and brothers of these children, and for the families of the adults who were lost.” I really don’t know what more to say about this. My thoughts are with anyone affected by this tragedy. With Christmas just round the corner, I don’t think anyone expected this to happen. *prays*
